About Me

NOTE: This feature was created as part of Amy's assignment for school.  Please refer to Amy's current blog, www.pihlingkansas.com for current information.

Howdy!  My name is Amy Butala, and I'm the author of this blog, as well as a grad student studying Library and Information Science at Drexel University.

I may or may not, definitely maybe, also be a mild arachnophobic.

I'm an oldest child of two girls, and I grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles, California.  Here I am demonstrating my love for my baby sister...

I always act my age.  Obviously.  Not.

I played soccer from the moment I discovered my legs, and was recruited to play collegiate soccer at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas in 2005.

I graduated in from KWU in May 2009 and stuck around Salina.

Yes...  I moved to Kansas.  From Los Angeles.

And yes...  It's dagummed cold.

I love to cook and bake.  I've somehow managed to mature from creating these:

(Go PACK, go!!!)  ... to these beauties:

I once tried to experiment with semi-vegetarianism, and then I remembered I live in the Midwest.

Silly me.

I have served as the Salina Public Library's Information Services Assistant since June 2009, and I love it.

Love it, love it, love it.

My desk truly is an interesting shade of purple.

On a daily basis, it's prone to being in various states of disarray, though not always caused by me.

Stacks of Xbox 360 and DVD cases?  Not me.

Three hot beverage containers, one used tupperware formerly filled with soup, and two boxes of tea?

Me.

This may have been the moment that I realized I was destined for libraries.

Or it could just be a family vacation photo.

You be the judge.

I am the owner of a 4 year old Blue Pacific Parrotlet I will affectionately refer to as "B".

"B" is extremely sassy, has an ego the size of Oregon, and is under the impression that I live in her house.  Also, she may unfortunately be more than slightly accident prone.

If I'm counting right, I believe she's on her 6th life.

But, I love her.

And I love you for reading my reviews.

Remember, I welcome book suggestions and requests!

And chocolate.  Amen.

Love your faithfully arachnophobic friend,

Amy
